Gallica Complicata at a glance
'Complicata', also known as 'Ariana d'Algier' or 'Rosa gallica Complicata', is a rose with a rich history, discovered in 1873 by Graveraux. This rare, old-fashioned shrub rose enchants with its single, medium-sized (5–8 cm) pink flowers, which give off a wonderfully strong fragrance. Its simple beauty makes it irresistible to bees and butterflies, making it a lively addition to any garden. 'Complicata' is a true ode to natural elegance and the charm of bygone times.
Reaching an impressive height of 100–300 cm, 'Complicata' is ideal as a striking shrub in borders, a natural hedge, or a focal point in parks. Although it is not repeat-flowering, you can enjoy its abundant blooms throughout June and July, after which it produces beautiful rose hips that adorn the plant well into autumn and provide a feast for birds. This robust rose thrives in partial shade, with at least 2 hours of sunlight per day, and is fully winter-hardy. Please note: it is not suitable for long-term container cultivation.
