Soupert et Notting is a compact moss rose with richly filled flowers in warm, deep pink. The flowers open from rounded buds into beautiful cups, sometimes with a quartered center. Lighter outer petals give the blooms a soft color gradient. Its powerful, classic rose fragrance makes it especially appealing.

This historic rose was introduced in 1874 by French breeder Claude Pernet, known as Pernet Père. It dates back to the early years of the Belle Époque. Its name honors Jean Soupert and Pierre Notting, founders of an important Luxembourg rose nursery established in 1855. This rose also preserves the memory of two figures in European rose history.

Its heavily mossed flower buds are a distinctive feature. The fine, branching glandular hairs resemble moss and give the buds their unusual appearance. Together with its full flowers, this makes Soupert et Notting a lovely choice for lovers of old garden roses.

The main flowering period is in early summer. After removing spent flowers, a light second flush may follow in autumn. Expect a particularly abundant summer display; repeat flowering is limited.

With its low, bushy growth, this moss rose also suits a smaller border. Plant it beside a garden path or at the front of a rose bed, where you can admire the flowers and buds up close. Plant it in fertile, well-drained soil, in full sun or light partial shade.
