Snowball at a glance
Rosa ‘Boule de Neige’ bears a name that beautifully describes its flowers: French for ‘snowball’. Its round, richly filled flowers open from pink-tinged buds into pure white blooms. The silky petals resemble camellias, but the strong rose fragrance immediately reveals its true character.
This historic Bourbon rose was introduced in 1867 by the French breeder François Lacharme from Lyon. Even a nineteenth-century rose description praised it as one of the finest white roses within the remontant rose group of the time. Its appeal has therefore more than stood the test of time.
Boule de Neige combines abundant summer flowering with repeat blooms towards autumn. The flowers appear in clusters above glossy, dark green foliage. Its slender, upright growth makes it an elegant presence among perennials. Give this fragrant white garden rose a sunny spot where you can enjoy its perfume up close.
Forty years of nothing but roses
Belle Époque is a family business, not a wholesaler. From our greenhouses in Aalsmeer, we have been growing only roses for over four decades — and every plant we send out is personally selected by us. This way, you receive not a catalog rose, but a plant ready to grow.
"Beautiful climbing rose, bloomed abundantly in the very first year! Well packaged and exactly what I expected based on the description. Belle Époque truly delivers top quality."
"The rose is well packaged and looks beautiful. Fast delivery, and the personal advice via email was very valuable — I wasn’t sure where to plant it."
"Amazing quality & service. I ordered two New Dawns and they are developing beautifully in the garden. Fast shipping from Aalsmeer to Belgium — would absolutely order again."
